After qualifying at Napier University, my career began with product and commercial photogaphy, where good lighting and technical excellence are crucial. “This background enables me to achieve consistently good results when photographing weddings, in any weather conditions.

When I meet with the couple, I show them my portfolio and take a note of their requirements. Once they book me for the wedding, I offer a free portrait session, which is a useful rehearsal, especially for those who are uneasy about having their photo taken. It also means we can practise ideas for their wedding day shoot.”

My work has a relaxed documentary style, allowing the time to capture many informal photographs of the guests as events unfold. “When the portion of the day spent on formal group photographs is kept to a minimum, it means the bride and groom can maximise the time spent enjoying their wedding day.
